The Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens
A few weeks ago we were invited to join the Nature Valley team on a walk around the Walter Sisulu Botanical gardens to reconnect with nature and enjoy the fresh air.
I hadn’t been there in years, and when we drove in I couldn’t think of a single reason why not. It is such a beautiful day outing for friends and families because you can take your picnic baskets and spend all day snacking and napping under the trees. There are also some amazing hikes you can enjoy and the Eagles Fare Restaurant is great if you need some refueling.
Speaking of eagles, a breeding pair of Verreaux’s Eagles nest on the cliffs alongside the waterfall, and if you get your timing right, you might see them head back from a hunt.
This indigenous garden is packed full of over 600 plant species, making it the perfect place to reset and unwind.
Entrance fee: R40 for adults
Address: End of Malcolm Rd. Poortview, Roodepoort. Gauteng
